Our Top 5 Favorite Clean Beauty Brands

The clean beauty revolution is in full swing, and as holistic wellness enthusiasts, we couldn’t be more thrilled. But for many people, the term “clean beauty” can be a bit confusing. Does it mean that the ingredients are organically grown? Does it mean the products aren’t tested on animals? Is “clean” just a buzzword that beauty brands are using now? As consumers, we’re often left with a lot of questions when shopping for clean beauty products.

Our goal at Thryv Organics is to educate people on the importance of clean ingredients -- whether it’s for your skincare, your makeup or your CBD. When shopping for clean beauty products, look for brands that avoid toxic ingredients such as parabens, formaldehyde and phthalates. Find brands that use high quality, ethically-sourced ingredients, don’t test their products on animals and do their part to reduce their environmental impact. Your beauty and wellness products should be clean on your body and your conscience.

In honor of National Clean Beauty Day, we’ve rounded up our top five favorite clean beauty brands that we use every day.

ILIA Beauty

ILIA is a personal favorite of our co-founder Kristi. ILIA is a clean makeup brand that uses consciously-selected ingredients free from silicone, fragrance and chemical sunscreens. In addition to using clean ingredients in their makeup products, ILIA also prioritizes sustainable packaging to ensure they don’t end up in a landfill -- this includes recycled aluminum, glass components and responsibly sourced paper. Kristi is a big fan of the ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint with SPF 40.

Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant is very popular among clean skincare enthusiasts, and it’s easy to see why. The brand only uses ingredients that either benefit the health of your skin or support the integrity of their formulas. That means they avoid fillers and inactive ingredients to make sure their skincare products are as clean and effective as possible. They also avoid essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes and sulfates, which makes Drunk Elephant good for your skin and the environment.

Rizos Curls

We recently had the pleasure of speaking alongside Julissa Prado, the founder of Rizos Curls, at the Create & Cultivate Self Care Summit. Julissa is an incredibly inspiring entrepreneur, and we admire her commitment to using clean, ethically-sourced ingredients. Rizos Curls uses high quality, plant-based ingredients in all of their hair care formulas and is very transparent about what they do and do not include in their products. They avoid sulfates, silicones, parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates, sulfates, artificial dyes, drying alcohols, mineral oil, petrolatum and animal-tested ingredients. That’s as clean as it gets!

Herbivore Botanicals

Herbivore Botanicals creates skincare, body care and lifestyle products that are gentle on the planet as they are on your body. All of their products are formulated with clean, natural ingredients and are never tested on animals. They also use glass and paper packaging and avoid dyes, fragrances and parabens to make sure their products are as biocompatible as possible. After a long week, we like to unwind with the Herbivore Aromatherapy Oil Rollers (and a Thryv Organics CBD bath bomb or two!).

Thryv Organics

We would be remiss if we didn’t include Thryv Organics! We take pride in our commitment to clean ingredients, transparency and ethical production. All of our CBD products are formulated with 100% organic carrier oils and zero fillers. It’s CBD you can trust! Thryv Organics CBD can relieve pain and inflammation in the body, but did you know that it can support your skin health too? Our CBD Oil Salve Stick can help reduce under-eye puffiness, making you look and feel even more well-rested; it can also reduce inflammation on painful blemishes. Our USDA-certified organic CBD Oil Salve makes a great CBD moisturizer too.

Shopping for clean beauty and wellness products does not need to be a daunting task. Simply look for brands that are transparent about what they do and don’t include in their products, are environmentally friendly and only test on humans, not animals.
